Diesel Schreef Februari8 , 2012 Share Schreef Februari8 , 2012 Aanvullende info: Development of Sarcoidosis in Cosmetic Tattoos http://archderm.ama-assn.org/cgi/reprint/141/7/869.pdf The development of granulomatous lesions within tattoos is a well-recognized occurrence in individuals with sarcoidosis. This case represents a unique adverse result after cosmetic tattooing, the incidence of which might be expected to rise considering the increasing popularity of cosmetic procedures and tattoo adornment. We stress that such reactions to tattoos may be the only manifestation of systemic disease, thus warranting further investigation for evidence of systemic sarcoidosis. A Diagnosis of Sarcoid Arthritis 'Check the Tattoos' http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/750928 However, the cutaneous lesions in his tattoos provided an important diagnostic clue, and are a recognised phenomenon in patients with sarcoidosis. There have been several reported cases of cutaneous reactions in tattoos as a manifestation of systemic sarcoidosis.[3] These reactions occur in multiple colours of multi-pigmented tattoos and represent non-caseating sarcoidal granulomas, identifiable by skin biopsy. Some of these cases have been associated with acute arthritis. However, tattoo lesions may be the only clinical manifestation of systemic sarcoidosis, and their presence warrants further investigation, initially with chest radiography to look for hilar lymphadenopathy. Sarcoid granuloma on black tattoo http://www.eblue.org/article/S0190-9622(05)04946-7/abstract We report the case of a patient with a black and turquoise tattoo who developed sarcoid granulomas on the areas of black pigment. Patch tests showed a positive reaction to nickel, cobalt, and cadmium; spectrophotometric analysis of the black pigment revealed the presence of nickel and cobalt among other metals. Although the pathogenesis of sarcoid granulomas is unknown, it seems that a delayed type hypersensitivity reaction is one of the mechanisms involved. Tattoos http://mpkb.org/home/special/tattoos But the literature also contains multiple reports of sarcoidosis patients – a disease of supposedly unknown origin – also developing skin lesions within tattoos. According to one researcher, this is “a well-recognized occurrence in patients with sarcoidosis.” Diesel
